Continued from past years, NACB will select from the distinguished abstracts a number of people to present their research orally.
Dr. Susan Maynard, PhD, Carolinas Medical Center, chaired the proposal for a symposium on immunosuppression and will participate as moderator. This session looks at initiatives in immunosuppression beyond traditional monitoring and adjusting dosage. Specifically, novel modes of administration, comparison of measurement methods, utility of dosage adjustment based on levels in early stages of transplantation, advances in organ function assessment, and individualization of full range of drug therapy will be discussed.
This full-day session includes five speakers: Robert Aris, MD, University of North Carolina, Paul Taylor, BSc, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Bjorn Nashan, MD, PhD, Dalhousie University Canada, Don Hricik, MD, University Hospitals Case Medical Center, and Michael Milone MD, PhD, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kenneth Blick, PhD, chaired the proposal for a symposium on new technology to facilitate real-time testing in the core laboratory and for point of care. This session focuses on use of a paperless Lean approach with emphasis on how technology driven real-time testing can improve evidence-based medicine and flow of patients in critical care areas.
