Intended Audience:
This session is intended for novice POC coordinators, physician office laboratory (POL) employees, physician office/medical practice managers, home health managers, and consultants to POLs.

Overview:
Following a brief lecture attendees will be provided a toolbox of template forms and logs and practical examples to stimulate audience participation. The use of case studies will allow additional discussion of potential quality management strategies and their strengths and weaknesses. Participants will also be asked to submit questions. Handouts will include the lecture and the toolbox materials.

Expected Outcomes:
After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • discuss professional roles and responsibilities of personnel who perform and oversee noninstrumented testing;
  • identify potential waived testing errors and means to avoid them; and
  • demonstrate Quality Control and Quality Assurance management strategies to meet regulatory compliance.
