Description
The use of anticoagulant drugs in various settings has increased over the past several years and POC coagulation testing has expanded to assist clinicians in assessing a patient’s need for blood products to improve patient safety and resource utilization. At this year’s POC forum, two renowned experts discuss and compare these coagulation advancements and how they are being utilized at the point of care.

Program
Point-of-care coagulation testing has advanced to much more than PT INR and ACT testing. The use of anticoagulant drugs in various settings has increased over the past several years and POC coagulation testing has consequently expanded to assist clinicians in assessing a patient’s need for blood products to improve patient safety and resource utilization. In addition, viscoelastic coagulation is performed under low shear conditions that mimic the environment in venous vessels. At this year’s POC forum, two renowned experts discuss and compare these coagulation advancements and how they are being utilized at the point of care.
