Washington, DC – July 8, 2011 The American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) announces the second of three complimentary webinars in its Thought Leadership Series: Taking Advantage of Disruptive Innovation: What Role Can it Play in Improving Lab and Healthcare Outcomes? The expert speaker is Christopher P. Price, PhD, FRCPath, Independent Consultant and Visiting Professor in Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, England.
A disruptive innovation is one that upsets an existing market by creating an entirely new market through the introduction of a new product or service, by enabling things to be accomplished in entirely different ways, by improving a product or service in ways that the market does not expect, or by challenging the status quo. The term is used in business and technology literature to describe innovations that improve a product or service in ways that the market does not expect, typically by lowering price or designing for a different set of consumers.
Sponsored by AACC’s Management Sciences & Patient Safety Division, and supported by a generous grant from Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, the Thought Leadership Series is designed to help laboratory staff and other healthcare leaders stay current in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing laboratory environment and meet the need for on-demand and topical educational events. Participants can view the presentation at their convenience and listen to an expert discuss a topic or trend that is currently affecting the laboratory or should be on their radar screen. After viewing the program, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions of the presenter.
AACC invites interested journalists to register for the webinar by completing and submitting a Press Registration Form or by emailing Peter Patterson. For more information about the Thought Leadership Series or AACC, contact Peter Patterson by email or at (202) 835-8718, or (800) 892-1400 ext. 1718.
