AACC actively participates in policy debates—both at the congressional and regulatory levels—that involve the role of the clinical laboratory in promoting improved patient care.  The Association offers input on a wide variety of issues, ranging from CLIA’88, patient safety and health IT issues to Medicare coverage and payment issues.  In addition, AACC coordinates its efforts with the broader laboratory community to ensure that it speaks with one voice, when appropriate.  Also, as part of its communication efforts, the Association conducts a number government affairs-related audioconferences throughout the year and jointly organizes a Healthcare Forum with ASCLS at the Annual Meeting.
