This program was developed to fill a void in the basic laboratory informatics knowledge which laboratory professionals do not receive in their specialized laboratory training, internships, and residency training.
After completing this program, participants will be able to:
- Explain basic terminology and architecture of laboratory informatics systems
- Understand current laboratory information systems
- Make decisions for routine troubleshooting, accreditation validations/documentation as well as comparing/contrasting future upgrades and/or purchases
- Discuss with confidence how laboratory informatics plays a major role in 21st century health care and patient safety
Developed with all levels of laboratory professionals in mind, the content of this program is at the basic to intermediate level and will provide participants with opportunities to increase their knowledge of LIS.
The AACC Laboratory Information Systems and Medical Informatics Division created this eight-course certificate program to present the essentials of LIS. The program concentrates on developing the knowledge and abilities of laboratorians in regard to LIS. The expert faculty are experienced educators who have extensive knowledge of LIS and health information systems.
