Larry H. Bernstein, M.D.

Larry Bernstein, MD, is Chief of Chemistry and Blood Bank, as well as Chairman of the Nutrition Committee at Bridgeport (Conn.) Hospital. Known internationally for his expertise in nutrition, Dr. Bernstein has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in this area. He is a member of the faculty at Yale Medical School, holds two patents, and is an active member of 12 professional organizations, Overall, Dr. Bernstein has written or co-authored more than 100 publications, abstracts, and presentations on enzymology, clinical chemistry, statistics, management, and outcomes. He founded and chaired the Connecticut Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, and is past Chairman of the Geriatric Division of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. Dr. Bernstein has chaired multiple meetings on nutritional support during the past six years, and in 1998 received the prestigious Labbe Award from AACC’s Nutrition Division. He is a member of the NCCLS committee on laboratory cost accounting, the MLT Program Review Committee, and an NAACLS board member.
