Franklin R. Cockerill, III, MD

Franklin R. Cockerill, III, MD, is Chair of the Division of Clinical Microbiology; Director, Bacteriology Laboratory; and Director, Syphilis and Helicobacter Serology Laboratory at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Dr. Cockerill received his MD from the University of Nebraska and pursued post-doctoral training at the University of Florida, Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, and Mount Sinai Research Institute/University of Toronto. His research interests include emerging bacterial pathogens such as group A Streptococci, H. pylori, and M. tuberculosis, as well as antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
