The Expo: Global and More—Commerce, Knowledge, Connections
Opening day rush at the clinical lab expo
The expo part of AACC's Annual Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo really is awesome! The big whoosh of air and teaming flow of humanity when the show floor opens on Tuesday morning is nothing short of breathtaking. That energy connects in the interactions that take place throughout the event.
So many opportunities for attendees to meet directly with in vitro diagnostics manufacturers, discuss potential purchases, learn about the latest products and services, have their questions answered, schedule follow-up visits or request further information. So many opportunities for IVD manufacturers to show off their newest instruments and assays, bring in company experts to discuss practice and scientific advances, consult with potential purchasers, and meet with interested parties. So many business-to-business opportunities as well, like manufacturers of reagents and test tubes meeting with IVD companies regarding use of their products in the companies' new test systems.
You get the idea: with more than 700 exhibitors from at least 30 countries, almost endless permutations of these interactions will be possible at the 2014 Annual Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo. In addition to being a global armada of IVD innovation and practicality, our exhibitors also represent the breadth of the field. Some examples: companies offering drugs-of-abuse-related products: 70; amplification technologies: 19; original equipment manufacturers: 181; barcoding technology: 17; virology-related testing: 49; protein analysis: 30; linearity-related products: 12; genomic-based testing: 27; mass-spectrometry: 16.
All this and more awaits you at the world's largest clinical laboratory exposition!
AACC booth: Our chance to meet, greet, assist attendees
The AACC Booth (1531) will be open all during Expo hours, July 29 and 30 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and July 31 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and our staff will be delighted to chat with anyone who stops by: nonmembers who'd like to join AACC, members with renewal questions, attendees with questions about upcoming AACC programs, potential contributors to Clinical Chemistry who want to know how to submit a paper. Whatever we can do to provide you with the information you need or to improve your Annual Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo experience, we'll be glad to do so.
Just seeing our smiling faces won't be the only reason to stop by, however. Chris Ziegler, our community specialist, will be on hand Tuesday and Wednesday July 29 and 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. to discuss AACC's new online community, a new platform AACC members shortly will have to interact with each other. Chris plans to describe what an online community is, how it will benefit AACC members, the timeline for the community's rollout, the community's features and functionalities, and how members can help make the community vibrant.
Visitors with a penchant for fun will be welcome to participate in our ChirpE photo booth, a new social media tool created by A2Z. With an iPad, users take their own photo, add a quote and post automatically to AACC's Facebook and Twitter accounts. Attendees can then tag these photos, share them with their friends, and have their friends like or retweet the photos. We'll have some fun props available to use in the photos, and the best part is that A2Z is offering $200 to the person whose photo gets the most social media play.
Our newly designed booth also will showcase AACC's new brand, and we'll also have monitors with continually updated social media scrolls about the Annual Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo. Keep those tweets coming at #AACC2014!
Looking forward to next year, members of the 2015 Annual Meeting Organizing Committee will be in the booth at all times to talk with visitors about proposal and abstract submissions as well as their plans for that event. A representative of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, where the 2015 meeting is being held, also will be present to answer any questions about our venue, the Georgia World Congress Center, or our host city.
If all of this isn't reason enough to stop by, here's one more: We'll be holding two drawings each day. One individual will receive a signed copy of Tietz Fundamentals of Clinical Chemistry and Molecular Diagnostics; and the other will receive a gift bag of various goodies. Want to participate? Simply drop by the booth and either leave a business card or scan your registration badge. So why not come see us?
