BASIC CONCEPTS AND CLINICAL APPLICATIONS OF FLOW CYTOMETRY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM |
Available for sale: January 1, 2013
Sold Until: December 31, 2013
Program Access Available: January 1, 2013-July 15, 2014
In this certificate program, participants will learn the basics of flow cytometry and how it can be used for diagnosis. The program is composed of six courses, listed below, which can be completed online in approximately 2 hours each. Each course contains a lecture, slides, transcript, and a quiz and a majority include additional reading materials. There are opportunities for interaction with faculty and other participants using the certificate program discussion board.
- Basic Theory and Clinical Applications in Flow Cytometry
- Introduction to Quality Control and Quality Assurance in Flow Cytometry
- Flow Cytometry Protocols for Immunophenotyping
- Flow Cytometry for the Analysis of Hematopoietic Neoplasias
- Flow Cytometry for the Diagnosis of Primary Immunodeficiencies
- Flow Cytometry in Transplantation: Antibody Screening and Crossmatching
You can earn 12 ACCENT® continuing education credits for completing the entire program. To receive the certificate, you must successfully complete all six courses by the program end date.
Certificates are awarded online upon successful completion of the program. Graduates are recognized at the AACC Annual Meeting and are listed on a register located on the certificate program web page.
Flow cytometry is a technology that provides very rapid objective cell-by-cell analysis of the physical properties of the cell, phenotypic properties of the cell in terms of what type of cellular antigens are present both on the cell and within the cell, and/or functional characteristics of a population cell. The applications of flow cytometry are broad and it can be used across a variety of medical areas. One advantage of flow cytometry is a high level of sensitivity compared with other conventional methods of analysis.
The Basic Concepts and Clinical Applications of Flow Cytometry Certificate Program is a basic to intermediate-level online certificate program, which will provide participants with essential knowledge about the use of flow cytometry as a diagnostic tool for the identification of various human diseases. The target audience includes laboratory professionals (medical technologists, laboratory managers, laboratory directors), pathologists, core flow cytometry operators, and research scientists who are using flow cytometry in their research.
After completing this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the basic principles of flow cytometry
- Discuss the regulatory requirements for quality control in flow cytometric assays
- Understand the technical and software requirements for designing of flow cytometric protocols for diagnostic purposes
- Explain the use of flow cytometry in immune-mediated disorders
