What is the Van Slyke Foundation (VSF)?
The Van Slyke Foundation is AACC’s philanthropic program. It’s also your chance to be philanthropic and to give back to your profession. The Foundation’s mission is to encourage and support deserving clinical laboratory scientists and students throughout the world. VSF is your foundation—dedicated to improving your field, clinical laboratory medicine. Your gift makes a difference!
What happened to the Van Slyke Society (VSS)?
The Van Slyke Society was reorganized and renamed the Van Slyke Foundation (emphasis added) in July 2004. The name was changed to make its philanthropic purpose clearer and the mission was sharpened to focus on deserving science students and clinical laboratory scientists worldwide. The VSS offered, and the VSF is still a unique opportunity for laboratorians to help laboratorians by contributing to the improvement of clinical laboratory medicine.
Why Give to the VSF?
With your VSF donation, you become part of the global effort to aid deserving clinical laboratory scientists and students worldwide. A gift to the VSF allows you to invest in the future of clinical laboratory medicine.
Where Does My Contribution Go?
Your gift is used to fund exciting programs that advance clinical laboratory medicine and improve healthcare around the world. Your VSF gift helps encourage an aspiring scientist by funding a student research award or student travel grant or a science fair prize. Or, your donation might assist a clinical laboratorian from Nepal or Ethiopia with an international travel grant enabling them to attend the AACC Annual Meeting and exhibit, meet new colleagues and learn about the latest developments in laboratory medicine and technology. VSF also funds five-year AACC memberships for deserving scientists from emerging areas of the world who otherwise might not have access to the Association’s journal, educational programs and other services. Only your generosity makes any of this possible.
What is the VSF Memorial Fund?
The Memorial Fund provides a means for contributions that commemorate the memory of a colleague, friend or loved one. Those whose name the donations are made are remembered on the VSF donors list and their family members are notified that a VSF gift has been made in their loved one’s name. You can make memorial contributions on this form, click here.
