What are the AACC Membership Categories and Dues?
Professional Member: $223
Open to persons holding an earned baccalaureate or higher degree in science, medicine, or academic equivalent and engaged in professional activities commonly associated with clinical chemistry. Members receive a subscription to Clinical Chemistry and are eligible to vote in association elections.
Professional Affiliate Member: $132
Open to persons who have an interest in the field of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine. This level of membership is specifically geared toward those interested in receiving ongoing educational, career and networking opportunities. Professional Affiliate Members receive all of the member benefits listed above, with the exception of Clinical Chemistry Journal. In addition, Professional Affiliate members are not eligible to vote in association elections, and may not hold association office.
Transitional Member: $75
Trainee Members and individuals seeking first-time membership who have completed formal undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate study may be admitted as Transitional Members for a period of two years. The Transitional Member receives the same benefits as a Professional Member, and shall have the right to vote, to make nominations, to hold elected office, and to chair, serve and vote on committees.
Open to persons engaged in formal full-time undergraduate, graduate students or post-graduate study. "Full time" is to represent any combination of course work, teaching and/or research assistantships or fellowships that the respective institution considers a full-time load. Trainee members are entitled to all member benefits, except voting privileges and the opportunity to hold association office. Trainee Members receive online only access to Clinical Chemistry journal, and may purchase the print version at reduced cost. Trainees must send in proof of academic status: ie., a copy of a current student ID card or letter from a professor.
You must be retired, over the age of 65 and a member of the AACC for at least twenty consecutive years. Mail, fax or email your request to AACC's Customer Service Department to convert to Emeritus status. Emeritus members do not pay dues; Emeritus members receive a free online subscription to the Journal. To receive a print copy of the journal, Emeritus members must pay a $100 subscription fee. Emeritus members must also pay for any Division memberships at a cost of $15 to $25 per Division.
How Do I Become a Member?
Renew Your Membership
- AACC Membership is on a calendar year basis. Each fall, you will receive a renewal invoice for the following year's membership. You can renew online, or print a copy of the renewal form and fax or mail it to AACC.

- When registering for the Annual Meeting, you will have an opportunity to renew your membership for the current year.
NEW AUTOMATIC RENEWAL PLAN
For your convenience, you may authorize AACC to annually charge your credit card to renew your AACC Membership, and if applicable, local section, division and NACB dues, subscriptions and postage options at the rate(s) in effect for the year of renewal.
If you choose this option, AACC will:
- Notify you in advance of the date and the amount your credit card will be charged.
- Contact you via email if your credit card has expired or if any difficulties are experienced during processing.
- Send you a receipt via email once your credit card is charged.

What is the AACC Membership Year?
AACC Membership is on a calendar year basis. All memberships are from January 1st through December 31st of each year. Membership applications received before September 1st will be effective for the current year. Full and Student members will receive all issues of Clinical Chemistry for the current year. Memberships received September 1st or later will be effective for the following calendar year; however, you will have access to member discounts and the members only area of the website from September through December of the current year.
How Do I Make A Change to My Member Subscriptions or Add Division Membership?
Members who wish to update their benefits for the current year must contact Customer Service.
Why Does Clinical Laboratory News Have a Quantity of Less than 1 in My Order?
If you are a US member and already have a subscription to Clinical Laboratory News that expires in the middle of the year for which you are purchasing membership, you are given a partial year subscription that will last for as long as you have paid your membership dues.
Why Does My Membership Order Have a Quantity of 2 or 3?
When you choose to join AACC or renew your Membership for more than 1 year, a quantity of 2 (or 3) will be displayed next to all items associated with your Membership. This reflects the number of membership years purchased. You will only receive one copy of each issue for each subscription.
I'm a Trainee Member. Why Can't I Renew My Membership Into the Future?
AACC requires that we re-verify the status of all Trainee Members each year. Once the Membership renewal season begins in September, Trainee Members may renew online or by contacting Customer Service.

I'm an Emeritus Member and Want to Continue My Membership. What Do I Need to Do to Renew?
Emeritus members who do not subscribe to any divisions or any subscriptions requiring payment of fees will be automatically renewed each year. If you choose to continue to pay for any subscriptions or divisions you will need to renew your membership each year with the appropriate payment. You can renew online, by mail or by fax.
I'm Unemployed. Will AACC Waive My Membership Dues? What Must I Do to Receive a Waiver?
Mail, fax or email AACC Customer Service. Briefly explain your employment situation. Request that AACC waive your membership dues for one year. AACC will review your request.
